As the digital environment worsens, will the Surgeon General's warning prevent major change again? It's time to ask Big Tech to fund a national awareness campaign like Big Tobacco.

The negative effects of big technologies on society will remain significant and lasting, if the aforementioned harm to children is not avoided. Unregulated social media companies generate marketing dollars by using algorithms to drive traffic to their websites. These algorithms are invested in more advanced algorithms that bring in more money.

We want our children back. "...we don't want to sleep awake for fear of our children's mental health."

The US Surgeon General issued a warning. Actors warn, parents weep. Children's voices must be heard in Congress, in the Oval Office, and on the boards of Big Tech.

These are bipartisan issues that deserve broad, bipartisan support. How much warning do they need to listen and act?
