Xiaomi Intros Solidstate Battery Tech With Higher Energy Density
Xiaomi announced its powerful battery technology in China. This technology offers, among other things, a high energy density. But before we get to that, it's worth noting that HONOR released its first silicon-carbon battery a few days ago.
This battery was announced during the launch of the HONOR Magic5 Pro and has been used in phones before, but only in Chinese models. This technology offers a 12.8% improvement in energy efficiency compared to lithium batteries.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi claims that its previously developed solid-state battery technology can achieve a power density of over 1,000 Wh/L. In other words, they can provide a 20% improvement in technology. This can provide a 20% improvement in low temperature discharge performance and an increase in acupuncture test pass rates.
But what makes these powerful batteries different? The answer is... electrolytes. Solid electrolytes have better mechanical resistance than liquid ones. They also have very good low power density, low thermal performance and technical reliability.
We mentioned earlier that the energy density of this battery is over 1000 Wh/L. This is a huge improvement over standard lithium batteries and allows more energy to be stored in the same space.
Security is another aspect that sets them apart.
Xiaomi also talks about safety, which is another aspect of why these batteries are superior. They are safer than the usual ones, because the strong electrolyte prevents lithium dendrites from entering.
Needless to say, this is very exciting and could advance battery technology. It looks like these batteries aren't ready to go yet, but Xiaomi has put one in the Xiaomi 13 prototype for testing. He also scored well in terms of patience.
Xiaomi hasn't said when we can expect this battery in commercial products.
