MAGA Desperately Needs Competent Oppo Researchers, Because Trumps Current Cheerleaders Keep Fragging The Home Team
In recent weeks, Congressmen Lauren Bobert and Marjorie Taylor Green have inadvertently toppled the Trump administration.
Bobert used the Trump-era document as evidence against the abuse of telecommuting policies by federal employees.
Green falsely accused the Biden administration of fentanyl-related deaths that occurred during Trump's tenure.
Former President Donald Trump might be better off with friends like this if he had better-informed enemies.
MAGA representatives Lauren Bobert and Marjorie Taylor Green have inadvertently brought down the Trump administration in recent weeks by attempting to shoot President Joe Biden. Meanwhile, Rep. Matt Goetz was relieved to unknowingly base criticism of Biden's policies on a communist newspaper.
Colorado's Bobert was the latest to undermine Trump's human resources team at Thursday's oversight committee hearing and fueled Democratic memes.
He asked OPM Director Kiran Ahuja about the fact that "more than 25% of federal employees are offline" while working remotely, but Ahuja said he disagreed with that characterization.
“This is a leaked document that we just filed,” Bobert said, challenging her.
Ahuja responded: "They are based on 2020, so under the last government, and I can't talk about that."
Bobert was referring to a leaked internal document from the Department of Health showing that some HHS employees did not use their Office 365 email accounts on average from March to December 2020.
Boberto was disappointed when Ahuja was unable to immediately provide more up-to-date data. The Colorado Republican then tried to point to a Trump-era document as evidence that federal employees are now abusing telecommuting guidelines "by claiming they work remotely and instead spend all day in a coffee shop in Cabo".
Earlier in the hearing, Green wrongly blamed the Biden administration for the fentanyl deaths of two brothers, but they died in July 2020 while former President Donald Trump was in office.
In his speech at the Democratic National Convention, Biden couldn't help but point out his mistake. He also said the Georgia Republican is helping Democrats rally support for the Republican party.
"Isn't that fantastic?" Biden continued with a smile. - Ugh!
Meanwhile, Goetz, the Florida Republican who nominated Trump for House speaker earlier this year, recently turned to China for ways to link him to Biden.
In late February, Congressman Matt Goetz harassed Assistant Secretary for Defense Policy Dr. Colin Kaul during a House Armed Services Committee hearing on US military aid to Ukraine in recent years.
Goetz tried to corner Kahl on whether CIA agents were currently in the Ukraine, something Kahl refused to discuss in an "unclassified setting."
So Goetz changed the subject and asked a Biden administration official whether the United States had supplied weapons to Ukraine's Azov Battalion, a paramilitary unit of Ukraine's National Guard that accuses Russia of committing war crimes.
"Not that I'm aware of. But if you have any information…" Cal said, shaking his head slightly.
Goetz immediately intervened, requesting that a “Global Times investigative report” detailing how the United States has been shipping weapons to Ukraine since 2018 be included in the hearing transcript.
Cal perked up immediately.
"I'm sorry. Is this the China Global Times?" he asked.
"No, that's…" Goetz said, then stopped and leaned forward to get a good look at the source material. - YEAH. Maybe,” Goetz said after a few seconds.
“In general, I don't take Beijing's propaganda at face value,” Kahl replied. His answer was based on the Global Times run by the Communist Party of China.
Getz tried to come to his senses and urged Cal to "tell me if this accusation is true or not."
Cal did not move and repeated his words about avoiding CCP-sponsored propaganda. At this point, Goetz chimed in: “Okay. I agree with this assessment."
