Somehow it's Friday again (I'm sure someone added an extra Monday to this week) and Friday means it's time for our weekly roundup of the best tech deals we could find. Apple's discounts were the largest, with sales of the second-generation Apple Pencil, Apple Watch 8, Apple Watch Ultra, iPad mini and MagSafe power bank . All are at or near record highs. If you are an Android user and considering Samsung's latest flagship, you might want to check out Amazon's gift card bundle with Galaxy S23 smartphones. Anyone who needs a little help keeping their floors clean may want to check out the Roomba 694 from iRobot. It's our pick for the most cost-effective way to enter the robotic vacuum market, and it's back at its lowest price point. Here are the best tech deals of the week that you can grab today.
iRobot Roomba 694
We've tested quite a few robotic vacuums over the years, and our current budget pick is iRobot's Roomba 694. It fell to an all-time low of $179 this week, or $95 and a lot for the price. The vacuum cleaner that will do a great job of keeping your floors clean without much effort on your part. It's part of a bigger Roombas sale on both Amazon and the iRobot website, with discounts of up to 35%. The sale also includes the best high-end robot vacuum we've tested, the self-cleaning Roomba s9+. It normally sells for $999, which makes it very affordable. We also tested and appreciated the Roomba Combo j7+ which combines the functions of a mop and a vacuum cleaner. The sale brings it down to $849, which isn't cheap, but it's way better than its $1,099 price tag.
Samsung S23 Ultra and Amazon Gift Card
Amazon is offering a $100 gift card to those who purchase the Galaxy S23, S23+, or S23 Ultra from its site. It's not the $140 discount we saw last week, but $100 could be the difference for someone who is still on the verge of getting one of Samsung's latest flagship phones. We gave the S23 Ultra an 89 and love the brilliant display and powerful performance of the custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip that makes everything smooth and fast. The massive 200MP sensor camera that Samsung added was the big news when the phone was first released, although it will take some tweaking to get the most out of those extra pixels. The battery lasted 19 hours and 26 minutes and the construction is excellent. One caveat we mention is the high price. But maybe the Amazon gift card offer will tone that down a bit.
Eargo 7 small hearing aid
If you're looking for FDA-approved self-priming headphones that are virtually invisible, you might like this deal on the new Eargo 7 headphones. They're on sale for $360 off their regular price, bringing the devices starting at $2,950. at $2590. When we wrote about Eargo last year, we said the brand was behaving "like a tech company rather than a busy medical device vendor," thanks in part to a lifelong release cycle. year, a bit like Samsung or Apple, whose technology is constantly improving with each year. New product launch. This week, our editor James Trew reviewed the latest Eargo and called the Eargo 7 the best model ever.
Aside from some configuration issues in the app and going into deep sleep mode when it needs a recharge (even if the earbuds are full), the experience with the devices was seamless. These are CICs, or in-the-canal headphones, that tend to be completely unobtrusive when worn and are even designed to handle sweat from workouts or small splashes in the bathroom. Trew likes how it boosts the sound just enough, but doesn't emphasize high-pitched sounds like keys. The battery lasts all day and the customer support is very good, which is important for a medical device that you buy directly from the company, instead of going to an audiologist.
Apple M2 Mac mini
This week, Apple's new Mac mini M2 dropped to its lowest price since its debut earlier this year with entry-level models seeing $50 off the list price. B&H Photo applies the discount to the 256GB M2 mini and 512GB M2 mini, both with 8GB of RAM, bringing the prices of the small but mighty PC down to $549 and $749, respectively. If you'd rather get it from Amazon, the 256GB model and the larger $50 512GB configuration are also available. Mac minis with an M2 Pro chip don't get the same discount, though Amazon lists them at $10 less than Apple's suggested price.
The new Mac mini features Apple's new M2 chip, which you'll also find in the iPad Pro and the latest MacBook Pro. Both budget models have eight processor cores, 10 graphics cores, 8GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. . In terms of ports, you get two Thunderbolt 4 UCB-C ports, an HDMI port with 4K@240Hz and 8K@60Hz output, two USB-A ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.
Apple iPad mini
The iPad mini is extremely portable, and now it's a little cheaper with a 20% discount on the 64GB model. That brings it down to $400 instead of the usual $499, which is the lowest price we've seen a small turnout has ever achieved. If you want the larger capacity 256GB model, it's 15% off, which drops to $550, which is also $99. Deals apply to Gray, Starlight, and Purple colors, though. pink is only seen in the 64GB configuration. We gave the mini an 89 in our review, noting that it received a major overhaul over its predecessors, adding iPad Air features like a Liquid Retina design full screen, USB-C charging, a Touch ID button and support for the new Apple Pencil.
apple watch series 8
We think the Apple Watch Series 8 is the best smartwatch ever, and now you can pick up the 41mm Product Red version for just $329, which is $70 off the regular price. If you don't mind the color red, you're good to go. If color isn't your thing, keep in mind that the erasers are interchangeable, though they're not particularly cheap, and the case will always be red. It's still a great watch with great health and fitness features, including ECG testing and shock detection. It also has solid GPS tracking and good integration with iPhone apps. Yes, this is for iPhone users only. If you are an Android user, we recommend the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5. The 40mm Bluetooth model is still on sale as of last week, so it's $220 instead of the usual $280, the all-time low for a wearable.
ultra apple watch
Apple's most powerful smartwatch was down to $749 a few weeks ago, and now the Apple Watch Ultra has an additional $50 off at Amazon. We gave it an 85 in our review, praising the brilliant display, extraordinarily long three-day battery life, impressive array of health and fitness features, and GPS tracking. Even at $50 off, it's not a cheap watch and arguably best suited for diehard adventurers and athletes.
Apple Pencil (2nd generation)
The second-generation Apple Pencil fell to an all-time low during the holiday shopping season late last year. Normally $129, a 31% discount brings the stylus down to just $89. It's one of our favorite iPad accessories and comes with a number of improvements over the first-gen, including wireless charging. wire that magnetically attaches to a compatible iPad. The second-generation stylus only works with later versions of the iPad Air, iPad mini, or iPad Pro; the standard iPad still supports the first-generation stylus. If it's an iPad you have, you can get the first-generation stylus from Amazon today for $20 off.
Apple MagSafe Battery
Apple's MagSafe Battery is currently 20% off at Amazon, bringing the ubiquitous Charge Power Bank down to $79. It's not an all-time low, but it's just $8 off its all-time low of $71. The power bank is small, compact, and securely attached to the back of the iPhone (model 12 and later), as long as the case isn't too thick. In our tests, it delivered a 43 per cent charge compared to the iPhone 14 Plus - you'll get more or less charge depending on your phone model and size. Although it didn't win the award for best MagSafe charger, it's well-built and remarkably compact. Our top pick for a MagSafe battery, Spigen's ArcHybrid, is $60, but Amazon is now offering a 35% off coupon. Check the box on the product page to apply the discount.
If you want to charge your iPhone wirelessly on your desk or nightstand, you might need Apple's MagSafe wired charger. It's on sale for $31, which is 21% off.
