Hall, Galloway Lead No. 24 Clemson To 7251 Win Over Jackets
CLEMSON, South Carolina (AP) -- PJ Hall scored 17 points and Brewin Galloway added 14.
The Tigers (17-4) are 9-1 and first in the ACC midseason. They quickly shut out the struggling Yellow Jackets (8-12, 1-9), who had lost their last six games.
Clemson rose quickly, playing as the top team in the ACC. The Tigers got a 3-pointer from Hunter Tyson on their first possession — their second in a row since last Saturday's 51-50 win over Virginia Tech — and a pair from Galloways.
He caught a pass from Boston College for 3 extra points and converted a free kick on a four-point play.
Hull finished with a three-pointer to give the Tigers a 15–2 lead with less than 5 minutes remaining.
However, Clemson couldn't keep shooting early, and Georgia Tech used a 12-2 run to fight back and win 25-22.
But Galloway and reserve Chauncey Wiggins got another three-run shot to restore Clemson's double-digit lead.
The second half was almost the same. The 6'10 Hall made it 12–6 with a three-point play and a three-pointer by Dillon Hunter and continued to extend the lead.
The Yellow Jackets couldn't catch him, and the Tigers were back in the regular season for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
Javon Franklin led Georgia Tech with 12 points. Myles Kelly, the Jackets' leading scorer with 13.6 points, finished ninth on 4-of-12 shooting and made just one of his six attempts from beyond the arc.
Switch board
Georgia Tech: The Yellow Jackets have struggled offensively this season -- ranked last in the ACC in shooting percentage -- and it showed again against Clemson. Georgia Tech fell into an insurmountable hole, missing eight of 11 3-pointers in the first half.
Clemson: It's time to focus more on the Tigers, who are probably the only team in the ACC to lose a conference game. Hall is a psychic, while good hitters like Tyson and Galloway give him wins and leads. Clemson hasn't had a team like this since dropping from the 2017-18 roster to the NCAA Sweet 16 tournament.
