Tottenham Loan Man Has Work To Do, As Report Reveals Manager Concerned With Belowpar Condition

Harry Winks will be working if he is to make his mark at Sampdoria after a questionable loan spell at Tottenham.

The midfielder left Spurs in the summer transfer window after struggling to impress manager Antonio Conte. He was shy at the start of Conte's reign but quickly faded from the limelight.

Instead, Rodrigo Bentancourt and Yves Bissuma, signed in subsequent windows, won the Italian's trust.

There were rumors that Winks would stay in England, and at first "Everton" was interested in the 26-year-old football player . Roma later showed interest, but eventually Sampdoria sold Vinko on loan.

The Serie A side have an opportunity to sign the midfielder, but Vink will face some challenges.

Of course, Gazzetta dello Sport hasn't played yet. "Obviously, it's not optimal," he says upon arriving in Italy.

The problems stemmed from Winx's historic ankle injury in 2017, which has plagued him ever since.

And while the 10-cap England star is doing his best to keep things under control, the start of his new adventure has been disrupted.

The sparkle in the eyes of Sampdoria coach Marco Giampalo will indeed "disappear". The club's medical service then referred the player to a special rehabilitation program.

Vinko's future at Tottenham remains unclear.

Winks made 203 appearances for Tottenham before being released in the summer, but it is unclear whether he will earn more.

Conte clearly has other ideas in midfield with Bentancourt and Bissomma.

Conte has also made some interesting decisions regarding youngster Oliver Skipp, who follows Winks out of Tottenham's academy.

However, Winks appears to have played his best football for Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino. Because it was he who pushed the player forward and got the most out of it.

Since then, Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espiritu Santo and now Conte have all tried their best to rely too much on Winx.

Given his first appearance for Sampdoria, he still has some work to do to convince the coaching staff that he can succeed in Serie A.

It's the same story in the Spurs ranks

Vink is not the only Tottenham player looking to impress at his new club this season.

Tangai Ndombele has moved to Napoli to revive his career. The former Tottenham player returned to Lyon last season. The problem is there and in Italy.

Elsewhere, Giovanni Lo Celso has joined Conte in recent months.

The midfielder is on loan at Villarreal for the second time after moving there in January and increasing his playing time and impact.

All in all, Tottenham have countless players whose futures are uncertain. Winks, Ndombele and Lo Celso realize they can make a real impression on Conte, who is worried about the depth of his squad.

Conte, on the other hand, is always on the lookout for new signings, so the threat to his loan stars is clear.
