Tech Firm Trains Developers
Amazon, through its subsidiary Amazon Web Services, has partnered with Macintosh Consulting to train Nigerian developers on the service.
At the Go Cloud With AWS event, which was attended by Science and Technology Commissioner Hakim Fahm, organizers said the training will provide an opportunity for unemployed, underemployed and tech professionals to upgrade their skills.
In his opening speech, the commissioner highlighted the impact of technology on various organizations.
"No company will be immune from making important decisions about where, how, and what kind of work will be done in the future, despite our current structure. Soon? The future of work is here, and will continue to be, and it has serious implications for the organization."
Fahm points out that technology is a catalyst for growth in developing countries and that it is important for young people to develop themselves and acquire the necessary skills.
Six speakers from Nigeria and abroad spoke to the audience about the importance of building on AWS, the role of AWS in growing a thriving business and business opportunities.
One speaker, Mhlongo Eric from South Africa, highlighted the quality of service provided by AWS and the scale without infrastructure, physical security or even energy costs.
At the event, Macintosh CEO Toyin Ifesanya, who has over 15 years of experience in technology, expressed his happiness that Nigerian youths are now embracing technology and its growing influence. He asked the government to create a favorable environment for the youth.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the Program Manager at Macintosh, Israel Kuti, explained how the relationship with AWS is not only beneficial for the organization but also how it will impact the growth of the Nigerian technology space.
