The New IBC Tech Zone

Be sure to check out the new Tech Zone in Hall 8 at this year's show, which promises to "showcase the latest in creative technologies, user-centric innovation and pioneering research and development (R&D) in computer technology."

Organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the Tech Zone brings together a wide range of cutting-edge technologies with a focus on user-focused innovation, celebrating the ingenuity of ideas born from real-world problems.

It also serves as a platform for R&D innovations that introduce new concepts or paradigms and open up new opportunities for developers, architects and suppliers.

Five organizations will showcase their technological innovations in the zone, including NHK, KBS, Yle, SWR and Nvidia.

NHK: video review based on artificial intelligence
Japanese broadcaster NHK will showcase its video summarization technology, which allows users to extract highlights and key moments from hours of footage. This system, supported by artificial intelligence, simplifies content management and promises huge gains in production efficiency.

KBS: VVERTIGO, AI-powered 8K HD editing
Korean broadcaster KBS will introduce VVERTIGO, an AI-powered solution that dynamically crops HD perspectives from 8K wide-angle signals. The technology aims to not only reduce the number of cameras that need to be placed, but also to “respond faster to unexpected events.”

Yle: Orter, preview in Unreal
Finnish national broadcaster Yle's Orter has been hailed as a game-changer in previewing TV shows, films and events. Using Unreal Engine, the tool provides a dynamic and immersive environment in which content creators can conceptualize and refine their ideas, “opening up a new realm of storytelling potential.”

SWR: Green Manufacturing Methodology and CO2 Calculator
SWR claims to have taken a big step towards sustainability with its innovative green production method. By adopting carbon computing and green practices, SWR will showcase its eco-friendly multimedia products that will serve as a model for the industry. SWR is part of the German national broadcaster ARD.

Nvidia
NVIDIA will demonstrate its software-defined platform for creating and deploying multimedia applications. Visitors will be able to learn more about the next generation of broadcast infrastructure and how it will leverage the latest capabilities in content production, including generative artificial intelligence for real-time, data-driven workflows.
