Hangzhou, September 26 (Belta - China Daily). - Olympic Council of Asia officials praised the opening ceremony of the Asian Games in Hangzhou and competitive events in the six host cities, emphasizing the use of digital technology to optimize speed and fluidity.
OCA Acting President Raja Randhir Singh said on Sunday that he was not only impressed by the spectacle of the inauguration ceremony, but also by the speed with which it happened.
The former athlete explained that he understood the organizing committee's hard work to ensure the march went smoothly and the placement of national delegates, calling the organization "really impressive".
Wei Jizhong, Honorary Life Vice President of the OCA, who attended the opening ceremony of the 11th Asian Games and Olympic Games, described the rhythm and order of the opening ceremony of the Hangzhou Games as "unprecedented".
More than 70,000 people, including more than 12,000 athletes and 50,000 spectators, participated in the event, which started at 8pm on Saturday at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium. Most were able to get to the metro or shuttle within half an hour of its completion.
Chen Weikiang, executive secretary of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, attributed operational efficiency to an intelligent management system using technologies such as 5G, the Internet of Things, big data and artificial intelligence.
Chen, who is also a spokesperson for the 19th Asian Games, explained that the orderly cleaning of the stadium was made possible by the installation of green lights in each area, indicating that people in relevant sections were free to exit.
"These lights are activated automatically based on real-time flow measurements at each exit," he said.
Chen said the intelligent management system is designed to ensure smooth running of the competition at 56 venues across the five host cities.
"The big (Smart Control) screen at our headquarters provides a clear view of all our facilities," he said. “We can go anywhere at any time and be fully aware of buildings and events. »
