‘Starfield Promises ‘All New Ways Of Traveling, More Frequent Future Updates
As far as I know, the most important gameplay element that Starfield has offered since its inception is the ability to eat sandwiches straight off the table. Plus, there are tons of bug fixes, NVIDIA fixes, and more. But this may change soon.
Although Starfield is not a live game and the announced expansion for Shattered Space is still a mystery in the future, players can expect more updates and quality of life quests. Starfield had nothing to show at the Game Awards, also known as Winter E3, other than an existing content announcement, congratulating all the nominees.
Now, in a comment on Reddit (which I think is part of the problem with big update news coming from the beginning), Bethesda has stepped in to talk about what's to come. People seem to have difficulty organizing multiple 'work in progress' so that they don't take away their savings. But in terms of actual content? This also happens.
The idea is that the re-introduction of city cards into the game doesn't leave players scratching their heads as they swim through a sea of colorful symbols on a blank map and have to remember exactly where everything is.
But beyond that, the statement promises "whole new ways of traveling (stay tuned!) but what exactly does that mean?"
The main and obvious thing players are thinking about is the idea of ground vehicles, something Starfield didn't offer but looks like a pretty neat gap in planetary exploration. Instead, players are forced to compete on large planets to various points of interest, constant battles over oxygen gauges, and often tedious tasks by hand.
I think there was an official explanation from Betsa for why there were no ground vehicles, which was that if the vehicle was going too fast, it couldn't open up the space in front of it fast enough. What is not said is that if you walk five times faster to hit these invisible walls, the large "boxes" of landing zones will suddenly appear smaller. This negates 80% of the oxygen system's raison d'être. But maybe these problems will be solved and the cars will come in the end.
But maybe this is not the case. Some players suggest that Bethesda should make space travel more attractive, for example, you can fly to planets in real time like in No Man's Sky. This... is hard for me because I don't know if it's technically possible to change. I'd be happy with less generic loading screens, especially in those hitting the game's bigger cities.
Other than that, the options are somewhat chaotic. A capital ship? Exo mechanical suits? I don't know, but my money always goes to dry cars. I think the players will be disappointed if something happens.
Finally, the comment promises "patches and updates" as often as every six weeks, but testing even the smallest change in a "huge and dynamic game" takes a long time. Although I think this serves as further evidence of Bethesda's ancient design and technology.
Anyway, I love my Mass Effect Mako game.
