Battery Manufacturer Hithium Opens New 28 Gwh Intelligent Production Plant

(MENAFN-ETHOSWIRE) - Stationery energy storage specialist Hetium will launch a planned production capacity of 28 GWh in the first phase of its new facility in Chongqing, China. The new manufacturing facility is designed with Smart Manufacturing 4.0 standards, including a 26% increase over the conventional Smart Manufacturing 3.0 manufacturing system.

In Chongqing, Hetium's automation upgrade has increased overall efficiency by 30%, and cut production costs by a quarter, resulting in significant gains in manufacturing competitiveness. Built with an investment of 13 billion yuan ($1.8 billion), the facility covers an area of ​​800,000 square meters and is located in the Tongliang High Tech Zone. The new capacity will help meet global energy storage demand of 720 gigawatts expected by 2030.

"Smart manufacturing is critical to producing more efficient and cost-effective batteries," said Jason Wang, president of Hetium. This new plant shows a way to reduce LCOS and, as a result, to a more sustainable energy transition. At our new factory in Chongqing, we have been able to reduce production costs by 25 percent, and this is just the beginning.

Because the mass production of battery cells poses extraordinary challenges due to extremely complex production technologies, Hetium has invested in developing the most advanced production lines in the world. Product variations can affect the performance, life and safety of battery cells, as small impurities or defects can damage the cells during use and lead to further defects. Therefore, Hitio's production lines are monitored in real time by thousands of process control points, most of which are directly connected to an approved quality management system.

This level of automated production supports the stability of lithium products in particular because the new facility can produce battery cells with a series capacity of 3 amps or less. In addition, the voltage difference for new factory cells is within 3mV, the product discharge uniformity is 10mV or less, and the product yield is more than 95%.
