Xiaomi's Latest Affordable Phone Pinches Some Flagship Features

Xiaomi's Redmi Note series has always been a great choice in the budget smartphone range. Xiaomi is gradually introducing more features previously found in flagship phones and we have seen gradual price increases on the series to accommodate these new features. However, overall the company has managed to maintain a very competitive price/performance ratio. Xiaomi has just launched the new Redmi Note 13 series in China, bringing several new things to this premium lineup.

The Redmi Note 13 series consists of three phones: the vanilla Note 13, Pro, and Pro Plus.

Redmi Note 13 5G

Redmi Note 13 5G has a familiar appearance compared to its predecessor. On the front, there's a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, and inside you'll find a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC with 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB LPDDR4X RAM, as well as 128GB and 256GB UFS 2.2 storage options.

There is a 108 megapixel main camera, a 2 megapixel depth sensor and a 16 megapixel front camera. The battery has a capacity of 5000 mAh and supports 33W fast charging.

Redmi Note 13 5G is available in three colors: Star Sand White, Time Blue, and Midnight Dark. The prices are as follows:

  • 6GB + 128GB: CNY 1,099 (~$150)
  • 8GB + 128GB: CNY 1,199 (~US$164)
  • 8GB + 256GB: CNY 1,399 (~$191)
  • 12GB + 256GB: CNY 1,599 (~$219)

Redmi Note 13 Pro

The Redmi Note 13 Pro also looks very familiar to me. There's a 6.67-inch 120Hz 1.5K AMOLED display on the front. Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. The rear camera has a 200MP Samsung HP3 sensor, flanked by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. 16 megapixel front camera. The phone has a 5100 mAh battery and supports 67W USB PD fast charging.

Redmi Note 13 Pro is available in four colors: Star Sand White, Time Blue, Light Dream Space, and Midnight Dark. The prices are as follows:

  • 8GB + 128GB: CNY 1,399 (~$191)
  • 8GB + 256GB: CNY 1,499 (~US$205)
  • 12GB + 256GB: CNY 1,699 (~US$233)
  • 12GB + 512GB: CNY 1,899 (~US$260)
  • 16GB + 512GB: CNY 1,999 (~US$274)

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus

Xiaomi retains most of its flagship features for the Pro Plus variant. The design is very different from what we see in the series. The front and back have curved edges.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus features a 6.67-inch 120Hz 1.5K curved AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Inside you'll find a MediaTek Dimensity 7200-Ultra SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. The rear camera has a 200MP Samsung HP3 sensor, flanked by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. 16 megapixel front camera.

This cellphone is equipped with a 5000 mAh battery and supports 120W fast charging with USB PD 3.0 support. It has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, as well as features that let you use the phone even in the rain.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus is available in three colors: Mirror White, Light Dream Space (with vegan leather) and Midnight Dark. There is also a special version of AAPE.

The prices are as follows:

  • 12GB + 256GB: CNY 1,899 (~US$260)
  • 12GB + 512GB: CNY 2,099 (~US$287)
  • 16GB + 512GB: CNY 2,199 (~US$301)

Worldwide availability

Currently this cellphone has only been launched in China. Xiaomi usually offers the Redmi Note series in various global markets and we expect the same to happen with the Redmi Note 13 series. However, all variants and colors may not be available in all regions and Xiaomi may also implement some rebranding practices.
