This Steely New 269Foot Superyacht Concept Has A Pool As Big As Your Garage
Last August, Anthony Glasson of M51 Concepts unveiled the volcano-inspired exploration yacht Forge. Now they have introduced a "less extreme" exploration concept for the more cautious boaters.
Aptly named the Forge II, it has the same angular silhouette as its 269-foot predecessor, but is more understated. Designed inside and out by a Hong Kong studio, the vessel features ice-resistant steel and lightweight aluminum construction. The exterior is finished in a paler metallic gray compared to the obsidian black and bright orange that covered the original Forge.

Glasson, who worked as a superyacht engineer for more than a decade before launching the M51, says the main difference between the two models is the aft deck. Forge II is ditching the helicopter and storage hangar in favor of a giant swimming pool that measures roughly 25ft x 11ft. (It's about the size of a large car garage.)
The main deck also has a semi-enclosed dining room and living room that can be used all year round. Elsewhere, the outdoor terrace features a hot tub, barbecue, bar and day beds, while the wheelhouse has a more formal dining table for 14 people.
Inside, the superyacht accommodates 12 guests in two VIP suites and four double staterooms. It also accommodates 25 or 23 people depending on the crew accommodation configuration. Having two VIP seats in place of your suite makes the Forge II particularly suitable for charter flights. VIPs are located on both sides of the upper deck and have large floor-to-ceiling windows. The rest of the guest cabins are located on the main deck.
In terms of decor, the residences have a traditional minimalist design with a muted palette and lots of natural materials. On the contrary, the cabins have a modern look and combine dark surfaces with light furniture. Other attractions include a fully equipped gym, spa and garage.
Glasson said the Forge II will run on hydrorefined vegetable oil (HVO) and battery powered motors. It is expected to reach a distance of no more than 5,000 nautical miles.
"I set out to design a yacht with a regal appearance and a look that would inspire confidence everywhere," Glasson said in a statement. "It was a pretty aggressive boat."
