Wood Burner Users Urged To Consider Impact On Environment And Neighbours

Firewood users were urged to consider the impact of their actions on the environment and their neighbors. The Petroleum Combustion Technical Association, or OFTEC, has appealed to the people of Gloucestershire to use this type of heat source.

Malcolm Farrow, a spokesman for the organisation, said: “With electricity bills rising, many rural households are increasingly relying on wood burning stoves or open fires to keep warm. that they will burn, are incendiary devices and must be properly maintained to ensure safe operation.

“It's important to have your wood stove regularly serviced by a qualified solid fuel technician to catch any problems before they become more serious and expensive.

“There are some concerns about the impact of wood stoves and open fires on air pollution and the potential for further regulation. When using these types of heaters we must always consider our impact on the environment and our neighbors and it is important to ensure this. the correct type of fuel is stored safely and used.

“Essentially, at a time when many homes are facing high heating costs, many people are saving money by keeping warm. It should be seen as part of a long-term organizational change.'

OFTEC, which runs the certification scheme for technicians who service solid fuel appliances, has issued guidance for households to ensure their safety and ensure that the use of wood burning stoves and open fires complies with regulations. More details can be found here.
