Vivo May Be First To Use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC In A Foldable Phone

Vivo could be the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC in a foldable smartphone. This information comes from Digital Chat Station, a well-known Chinese columnist. He has a very good track record so it is easily possible.

Vivo X Fold 2 could be the first foldable phone to use Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The host shared this information via Weibo, adding what type of device it is. The device in question is the Vivo X Fold 2, a direct successor to the Vivo X Fold that was launched last year. The Vivo X Fold was launched in April 2022 and its successor is expected to launch later this year. It will probably be released at the same time, so we can expect an April launch.

The presenter also shared technical information about the device. It looks like the Vivo X Fold 2 will have a 4,800mAh battery. It also supports 120W wired charging, which charges the battery in no time.

That's basically all he shared. It's likely that we'll get more information about the phone over the next month. We're not even sure if Vivo plans to keep the design or if we'll see major changes.

The Vivo X Fold is similar in style to the Galaxy Z Fold 4. It's a foldable book-style book with a large screen inside and out. It has an 8.03-inch main panel and a 6.53-inch secondary display.

The device is likely to have premium specs and hopefully be lighter than its predecessor

The sequel is likely to include such large screens as well. They may be slightly smaller/bigger but more or less the same size. We're also guessing that Vivo will use LPDDR5X RAM in the new phone along with UFS 4.0 storage, but that remains to be seen.

The Vivo X Fold was really heavy at 311 grams, so we hope Vivo can lighten the weight of the Fold 2 a bit. Folding devices are usually quite heavy, but not to this extent. The Vivo X Fold is actually a lot heavier than most of its direct competitors.

It also remains to be seen if the Vivo X Fold 2 will make it to global markets. Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold+ are not and remain exclusive to China.
