Vivos IQOO Pursues Overseas Expansion With New Flagship Phone
iQOO, a sub-brand of Chinese smartphone maker Vivo, has announced its new flagship phone, iQOO 11. The phone, which will be available in select markets in Southeast Asia for the first time, is powered by Qualcomm's latest high-end smartphone. End. Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
Why it matters: iQOO 11 features an innovative adaptive refresh rate upgrade that supports partial refresh to improve energy efficiency.
- The phone brand is also expanding into new markets with the device, with iQOO 11 launched in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. “iQOO will continue to grow in overseas markets and gradually expand its international presence in the future,” a brand spokesperson told TechNode.
Details: In addition to the Qualcomm chipset, iQOO offers 11 high-spec memory and storage chips. The phone also adopts a new cooling system to maintain peak hardware performance while playing games.
- With the support of the new Qualcomm chipset, iQOO 11 can use a low-power memory chip with 5 times the data rate (LPDDR5X), which is 33% faster than the last generation LPDDR5. The model also offers 16GB of RAM.
- Another advantage is the UFS 4.0 standard storage which provides higher performance and lower power consumption. Sequential read and write speeds are 60% and 80% faster, respectively, than previous models.
- For the cooling system, iQOO adopts a three-layer graphite vapor chamber (VC) liquid design. The cooling area is slightly larger than the previous generation and features a new sealed VC technology, which increases the effective cooling area by 19.5%.
- There is also a V2 chip to improve the gaming experience by increasing the frames per second (FPS). Games can be rendered at up to 90fps or 120fps even if the game does not support higher frame rates. This technology reduces power consumption by relieving the display pressure of the main chips. The V2 chip also provides filters to improve game scenes.
- The screen is another strong point. It uses a 6.78-inch perforated screen with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. It also comes with the third-generation LTPO adaptive refresh rate technology that supports different refresh frame rates for different areas of the screen. The use of the new E6 luminescent material also reduces energy consumption by 13% compared to screens made of E5 material.
- iQOO 11 offers the usual triple camera array: two ultra wide-angle cameras and a 50mm vertical camera.
- With a large 5000mAh battery, iQOO 11 supports 120W fast charging.
- The phone is available in two color schemes inspired by BMW M Motorsport: Legend Edition and Alpha Edition. It will be launched in Indonesia and Malaysia on December 8th, Thailand on December 15th and India on January 10th.
Background: iQOO was established in 2019, focusing on gaming phones for Chinese and Southeast Asian markets.
- In the third quarter of this year, the brand captured 4.6 percent of the Chinese smartphone market with "competitive products and prices," according to IDC. Together with parent company Vivo, it overtook the Chinese market, supplying 20% of phones this quarter.
- According to Counterpoint Research, Vivo accounted for 9% of smartphone shipments in the global market in the second quarter of 2022.
