OU Football Blows Largest Lead Since 2020 & More Key Stats From Loss To Texas Tech
LUBBOCK, Texas. The Sooners ended the regular season with an overtime loss on Saturday.
OU defeated Texas Tech 51-48. The Sooners (6-6, 3-6 Big 12) now have to wait and see what bowl games they get into.

OU dominated the first quarter on both sides
2. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Jordan Kelly fumbled a Texas Tech first down and was picked up by sophomore quarterback Ethan Downs. It was Kelly's second forced fumble of his career.
6. Redshirt junior quarterback Dillon Gabriel found Braden Willis for the fifth straight year for a 7-yard touchdown to give OU a 14-0 lead with 9:24 left in the first quarter. Willis has scored seven touchdowns this season, surpassing his career high of six at the start of the season.
29: OU faked a 29-yard field goal attempt with 5:04 left in the first quarter. Redshirt 5th-year freshman Michael Turk's move to Willis did not go through, resulting in declining turnovers.
3. OU leads 14-0 at the end of the first quarter. It was the third straight game in which the Sooners dropped points in the first quarter.

Texas Tech offense resurfaces in second quarter
2. A pair of kickers throwing two OU touchdowns on their first drive of the second quarter. The Sooners hit a 41-yard field goal attempt by redshirt second Zach Schmidt, who sent the ball into the uprights for a 17-0 lead at 1:04.
1. Texas Tech defensive lineman Jaylon Hutchings lined up the line of scrimmage for a 1-yard touchdown to make it 17-6 with 9:45 left. It led to the senior's third career touchdown and first career touchdown. Pat was no good.
77. A holding foul allowed wide receiver Marvin Mims to miss and Gabriel had a 77-yard touchdown. That gave OU a 24-6 lead with 6:25 to go at halftime.
4. Gabriel's pass was intercepted with 2:16 left in the second quarter and Texas Tech's Donovan Smith took just four plays to capitalize on a 6-yard touchdown to make it 24-20.
23: Texas Tech scores 23 points in the second quarter to cut the lead to 24-23 at halftime. It's the second most points scored by OU in a quarter this season. The Sooners defense scored 27 points against TCU in the first quarter of Week 5.

The Red Raiders take the lead in the third quarter
61 : Redshirt rookie Theo Wise ran wide for a 61-yard touchdown to give OU a 31-30 lead with 10:09 left in the third quarter. It was Wiz's longest streak.
0 : OU went from 0 to 2 for fourth conversions in the third quarter. Texas Tech scored on the next two drives.
3. The score changed three times in the third quarter. Texas Tech entered the fourth quarter with a 38-31 lead.

OR-Texas Tech goes to overtime
4. Redshirt senior quarterback CJ Coldon intercepted a pass from Texas Tech quarterback Tyler Shaw with 5:16 left in the game. It was Coldon's fourth interception this season, a team high.
42. Trey Wolf had a 42-yard field goal to tie the game at 48-48 with three seconds left.
2020: OU played its first game in overtime since a 53-45 loss at Texas on Oct. 10, 2020.

6. Gabriel caught six touchdowns for 449 yards. That ties him with the second-most touchdowns by an OU quarterback in program history. Baker Mayfield earned a 66–59 victory over Texas Tech on October 22, 2016.
17. OU reduced the deficit to 17 points on Saturday. It's the team's biggest margin since a 21-point shutout against Kansas State on Sept. 26, 2020.
