Reddit user Gawdamn69 posted a multi-step solution to the site in mid-November. As a result, they said, their speed increased from 20 megabits per second to 650. They added that their internet plan allows up to one gigabit per second, so the speed increase will vary from person to person.

To get started, click on the "Steam" button and go to settings. From there, select "Downloads" and set the "Bandwidth Limit" field to 100,000 (the Reddit user says the number doesn't matter if it's higher than 1000). Then while holding the power button, go to the desktop. Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the lower right corner. In the upper right corner of the tab that appears, select the symbol on the left to access the Wi-Fi settings. In the new window that opens, find the field on the right called "BSSID". Choose the only option from the drop down menu. Do the same in the Restrict device box below. Then look at the top of the window for the IPv4 tab. Click on it and enter "8.8.8.8" in the "Other DNS servers" field. Select "Apply" at the bottom of the screen and restart the platform.

If that doesn't work right away, go back to your Steam settings. Enable developer mode on the system and disable Wi-Fi power management. From here, players will be able to start downloading at higher speeds.
