The Appetizing Future Of Guest Dining: Techs Sustainable Culinary Influence
Technological advancements have made dining more efficient and environmentally friendly than ever. With a tablet-based point-of-sale (POS) system, restaurants can now save 7.5 million trees per year.
I've never tried whole foods.
Consumers prioritize what's most important to them when they shop, including where and how they eat. A recent Deliverect study of 7,000 people worldwide found some interesting results. 65% of respondents said they tend to view healthy, organic food as an expensive option, and 43% are willing to pay more for food at establishments that prioritize sustainability. Additionally, 47% of respondents said they would consider more environmentally friendly menu options.
These results show a growing trend in consumer preferences regarding restaurant choice, environmental awareness and ethical considerations, suggesting that sustainability is now an important factor influencing their decisions.
In the world of cooking, this is not a passing trend, but a revolution: in essence, going green.
Smart cooking methods
Many hospitality organizations are using various technology solutions to sustainably improve the guest experience. In hotels, these solutions include revenue management systems and property management systems. Using data, these new solutions personalize guest experiences based on preferences, interaction history and purchasing habits. Moreover, the benefits of these systems go beyond financial benefits.
Automated energy systems equipped with advanced features such as wearable lighting sensors and smart climate control systems are becoming increasingly popular in the industry. By adopting these energy-efficient solutions, facilities can reduce carbon emissions while optimizing human control. These systems reduce costs and increase customer satisfaction through user-friendly and easy-to-use features, resulting in increased business efficiency.
They serve more than just good food.
Joseph Steele, editor-in-chief of the Australian Travel & Dining Guide, believes the hospitality industry will become more dependent on artificial intelligence technology in the future. Accurately identifying customer preferences based on the wealth of available data can be challenging. Incorporating testing and reporting into your marketing campaign is essential, and the more you personalize your approach to visitors, the more likely they are to be attracted to your niche. This is known as hyper-personalization.
“Hyper-personalization allows us to recommend not just steakhouses, but steakhouses that appeal to people like you. By collecting and aggregating recommendations, we can identify more than just the food that will make you fall in love with a place and recommend other places with something unique.”
The Sustainable Restaurant Association is a promoter of this sector.
The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) plays an important role in driving positive change in the restaurant industry. The not-for-profit organization aims to support UK foodservice businesses on their journey towards sustainability. At the same time, it serves as a valuable resource for consumers, providing guidance on how to make more sustainable choices when eating out.
In an exclusive interview with IVV, the Sustainable Restaurant Association expressed its belief in technology's ability to drive sustainable change and positively impact business performance, reduce costs and reduce workload for employees.
“From smart purchasing platforms to induction cooktops, simple sensors and smart energy meters, restaurants have never had more technology support to reduce their impact. Many of the UK's biggest and best-known restaurants have used smart counting systems to reduce food waste to record lows and attract new customers through recycling programs such as Excellent To Go.
“Today, when implementing sustainable practices can not only reduce business impact but also save huge amounts of money, the pressure on employees has never been greater. A team that is fully engaged and motivated to do the right thing can be the greatest force for good. “This is what makes engineering resilience so important across all business sectors.”
