The Best President's Day Sales On Tech We Could Find

President's Day might not be the biggest event for tech deals — the holiday also brings discounts on major items and the like. But it is still possible to save money on the equipment you are considering. Right now we're looking for $50 off the Apple Watch Ultra. Other Apple products are enjoying strong sales, including the iPad Air, Apple Pencil and Apple Watch SE. Samsung products like Galaxy Buds 2, M8 Hybrid TV/Monitor and Shield T7 Portable SSD are 18-44% cheaper. And it's a good week to pick up one of our favorite mid-range phones, the Pixel 6, for $300. Here are this week's best tech deals to grab today.

Apple's newest, biggest, and most expensive watch just got a little cheaper thanks to a $50 discount on Amazon. This brings the laptop down to $749 instead of the usual $799. It's $10 off during the Black Friday sale, but this is the cheapest it's seen outside of the holiday.

The Apple Watch Ultra scored an 85-point rating when we first tested it. We loved the long battery life, with a three-day charge even when tracking daily workouts. The extensive GPS and tracking capabilities are impressive, but may not be for frequent hikers, runners, and outdoor adventurers. It can be overwhelming for those looking for an expert smartwatch. For that, you can go with the Series 8, which Target has discounted for $70. It's Apple's second new smartwatch and it might be a better choice. For an affordable Apple wearable, Target is also offering a discount on the Apple Watch SE, which scored a high 89 in our test.

Apple iPad Air 2022

Right now, the new generation iPad Air is down to $500 on Amazon for the 64GB model, the lowest price we've ever seen for the tablet. Note that Amazon's $100 discount only applies to the space gray color. Right now you can get the same $100 discount at Target on all colors, and the deal applies to both the 64GB model and the larger 256GB model.

We think the 2022 iPad Air M1 is the best iPad for most people. In our testing, we characterized it thanks to its ultra-fast M1 chip, high-quality finish and long-lasting battery life. It has a great display and is compatible with the latest peripherals, including the Magic Keyboard and the second-generation Apple Pencil. This useful but expensive accessory is 31% off at just $89.

If you're looking for something cheaper, the 2022 10.9-inch iPad 10th Gen is $50 off at Target for the 64GB and 265GB models, bringing the price down to $400 and $550, respectively. The offer is part of a big 4-day sale at Target that also includes discounts on wearables like the Apple Watch SE and Fitbit Charge 5.

Flashing outdoor security camera

Flashy security gear is on sale this week for 20% to 40% off. Amazon bought Blink in 2017 and has continued to expand its security camera offerings, positioning it as a low-cost alternative to the online giant's other security shopping ring. But cheaper does not mean less powerful.

Weatherproof cameras last two years on a single AA battery and require no professional installation. If you want to keep track of who's at your door, the Flashing Video Doorbell is 30% off for $60. This device comes with Blink's Sync Module 2, which lets you store video clips locally without a subscription, although you'll need to provide a flash drive to store files indefinitely. The doorbell works with or without batteries and can send you real-time 1080p infrared video during the day and night.

Note that Blink devices are only compatible with Alexa and Echo hubs. If you've set up your smart home to work with Google Assistant or Apple Homekit, Blink devices won't integrate with them. For this you can turn to a brand like Arlo. Its cameras and doorbells will join Google, Apple and Amazon's home ecosystems. This week you can get up to 50% off wireless video phones and other security products.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 are available on Amazon for $89. That's a 40% discount and the lowest we've ever seen. The offer is valid for four color variants including Green, White, Purple and Black. We gave these eyes a solid score of 84, judging them to be premium buds at an affordable price, and that still holds true.

While they do offer active noise cancellation, they don't measure up to the ANC grind of higher-end (and more expensive) headphones, but they do a good job of reducing distractions. The sound quality has been improved compared to the previous generation, providing a full base and balanced levels, especially with the EQ presets. The buds are smaller and more comfortable than the previous ones. The Galaxy Buds 2 only have an IPX2 rating, which means they're good for going out in the rain, but can hold up to a sweaty workout.

The buttons work well with Samsung phones and integrate well with Samsung Galaxy watches. If you're using an iPhone, you'll be paired, but you'll lose a lot of control. Those who embrace Apple's ecosystem would probably be better off opting for Apple's AirPods. The second-generation AirPods Pro are on sale this week for 20% off.

Samsung T7 SSD enclosure

If you're running out of computers or need to transfer and store files, check out Samsung's storage device sale. Many of its SSDs and microSD cards are at all-time lows, including the T7 Shield Portable SSD. The 2TB size has been reduced to $150, and the 1TB size is now $90, which is 44% less than Amazon's regular price. The T7 is our pick for the best portable hard drive in our SSD storage guide, thanks to its fast read/write speeds and durable exterior.

MicroSD cards can give you more storage space on your phone or tablet. Samsung's 128GB Evo Select is 33% cheaper at just $14, almost the lowest it's ever been. The 256GB size is perfect for adding storage to your Switch or GoPro and offers the biggest discount at 43% off. If you want to pick up new storage devices directly from Best Buy or Samsung, discounts apply at those stores as well.

Samsung M8 Smart Display

The border between televisions and monitors can sometimes be very close, the latter being larger and thinner. Samsung's M8 Smart Monitor sweeps the line entirely. It doubles as a TV, monitor, and smart home hub and usually sells for $600, but Amazon has it for $350, which is the lowest. Note that the $350 price is only for the white version and only the configuration with the VESA adapter mount.

It has a bright screen that delivers deep blacks, but only a 60Hz refresh rate, which isn't ideal for gaming. It has two USB-C ports and a micro HDMI port; There aren't many inputs, but that helps the screen keep its slim design. It also includes a top-mountable webcam.

Unlike a standard monitor like a Samsung Smart TV, the M8 is powered by Samsung's Tizen operating system. This means you can easily run streaming applications without connecting to a computer. Just like a TV, it comes with a remote control. As a home hub, Samsung Smart Things features are built in, allowing you to monitor and control your compatible speakers, cameras and other smart devices.

Google Pixel 6a

It's an older phone, yes, but the Google Pixel 6 is still our favorite mid-range Android phone, and it's cheaper than ever. Amazon is selling the unlocked phone for $299, which is $150 less than its list price. Best Buy has the cheapest phone for $50, but only if you activate it when you pay with your carrier. If you're not ready to activate yet, the price is also $299 directly from Google.

If you want the latest Google phone, that's on sale. We call the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro the best value flagship phones on the market. Right now, the Pixel 7 is $100 on Amazon and the Google Store, while the Pixel 7 Pro is $150. Best Buy is offering an extra $300 off the Pixel 7 Pro, but only if you activate it today.

Galaxy Book 3 Ultra

Unveiled at an event in early February, Samsung's new S23 series of flagship phones has already launched, but the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra is still available for pre-order. If you order through Samsung, you'll get 1TB of storage for the price of the 512GB model, which is a $200 savings if you plan to upgrade to a higher-capacity drive. Plus, Samsung is offering a $50 credit.

We spent some time with the Galaxy Book 3 Ultra after the event and thought it was a beast of a machine. This setup works with NVIDIA RTX 4050 graphics cards on Intel Core i7 processors. It has 16GB of RAM and the aforementioned terabyte of storage. Overall, it's thin and light at four pounds and 0.64 inches thick.

Ports include HDMI, a microSD slot, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C, one USB-A, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The keyboard is spacious and the trackpad is excellent. It also has a 1080p webcam and an updated quad-speaker system. While we haven't had a chance to fully test and review the Book 3 Ultra, you can get a free memory upgrade by pre-ordering it.

One plus 11

When we reviewed the latest OnePlus phone, we were happy to find good phones at competitive prices. And now, the company is offering a free storage upgrade on the OnePlus 11 over the next few days. That gets you 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $699, which matches the price of the smaller 8GB/128GB model.

The main feature of the OnePlus 11 is its incredibly fast charging. With the included cable and adapter, 100W will charge your phone from empty to full in 25 minutes. However, there is no wireless charging. But with a battery that lasted 20 hours in our summary test and a battery that only took 10 minutes to reach 50 percent of the cable, it's easy to miss the point.

The Android smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor and features a stunning 6.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2048×1080 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The camera array has a 50-megapixel, 48-megapixel main sensor. A megapixel sensor with a 115-degree wide-angle camera and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens.

Sony A90J BRAVIA XR 55" 4K OLED TV

Historically, picture quality has set Sony TVs apart, and while other companies have filled the gap, high-end Sony never disappoints. This week we're seeing a 44% discount on Sony's Bravia A90JvOLED 4K TV, dropping its price from $2,500 to $1,398. The set uses the company's new Cognitive Processor XR chip, a breakthrough that uses AI to create a more realistic and dynamic image. You also get Google TV and Alexa integration for voice control. However, the LG C2 TV set, while not on sale, is affordable and $100 cheaper.

If you're willing to spend a bit more, our reviews suggest the Samsung S95B 4K OLED TV is a better choice, currently 23% off at $1,698. It's not always the lowest, but it's only $300 more than the Sony, so the investment may be worth it.
