Microsoft has just announced some new webinar features in Teams. With Teams Premium generally available, users can access advanced webinar features such as creating events in advance and creating virtual green spaces. Microsoft has covered and previewed many of these features in the past, but one feature discussed in this Tech Community article stands out. Microsoft Teams meetings and webinars can now be controlled via the Elgato Stream Deck.
The new Elgato Stream Deck plugin allows users to perform multiple actions during a meeting or webinar at the touch of a button. According to Microsoft, Stream Deck can be configured to:
- Turn the camera on/off
- Enable/disable audio
- Enable/disable logging
- Enable/disable background blur
- Leave the meeting
- Show live reactions including applause, laughter, likes, love and treats
- Raise or lower your hand
To control meetings and webinars with Stream Deck, you need to install and configure the Elgato Stream Deck plugin in Teams. To set it up, you need to get the code from Teams, and copy it into the Stream Deck settings. Microsoft described the process in a Tech Community article.
This week, Microsoft also announced AI capabilities for teams that support GPT OpenAI. The platform now supports Smart Digest, which takes meeting notes, suggests tasks, and creates custom features. The new Smart Summary feature divides meeting notes into chapters for easy navigation.
