Vivo Updates Foldable Phone X Fold+ With Highend Qualcomm Processor

Vivo Updates Foldable Phone X Fold+ With Highend Qualcomm Processor

Chinese phone supplier Vivo launched its second-generation X Fold+ foldable phone in China on Monday night, priced at 9,999 to 10,999 yuan ($1,396 to $1,536).

Why it matters: Vivo's new foldable phone uses a new high-end Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, following rivals like Motorola, Xiaomi, Samsung and Huawei. The phone maker's marketing campaign aims to appeal to consumers who prefer a more powerful camera system and dual fingerprint recognition (on both internal and external screens).

  • In China's high-end smartphone market, despite an overall decline in smartphone sales in the second quarter of this year, Android phones gained more market share, according to reports from Counterpoint Research and IDC. Flip phones may be more feature-rich than ever, given their price and expensive market orientation.

Details: Compared to its predecessor, Vivo X Fold+ has similar specifications in terms of body size, body design, weight, screen, and camera. But the new generation comes with a new processor, better charging speed and improved battery.

  • This phone has a complex internal structure. What makes this phone special is that it supports similar features as the Samsung Infinity Flex as it can be folded at different angles.
  • At 311g, the phone is heavier than competing offerings. Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 and Huawei Mate Xs 2 weigh 262 and 255 grams respectively.
  • The new model has also updated its cargo offering. With a 4730mAh battery and 80W charging speed, charging is 30% faster than the previous model.
  • Vivo X Fold+ offers a quality camera system equipped with Zeiss optics with frames from ultra wide angle to telephoto. The two main cameras have a resolution of 50 and 48 million pixels.
  • The phone has an internal screen of 8.03 inches and an external screen of 6.53 inches. Both support a 120Hz refresh rate. The built-in LTPO (battery-saving Adaptive Rate Technology) display has a resolution of 2160 x 1916 and an aspect ratio of 4:3.55, with a pixel density of approximately 360 pixels. pixels per inch (PPI). The external display has a resolution of 2520 x 1080 with an aspect ratio of 21:9.
  • The phone will be available in three colors from September 29. Vivo offers two storage combinations including 12GB RAM plus 256GB storage and 12GB RAM plus 512GB storage.

Background: Until now, Vivo has focused on selling foldable phones in China and has not launched a foldable phone abroad and has not announced any plans in this regard.
