So You Want To Craft A Killer Pitch Deck

So You Want To Craft A Killer Pitch Deck

Hello, friends.

So you want to make a great presentation. You want to create something that is authentic to what you've created, but also builds on past successes. You probably want to avoid common mistakes and learn what other startup founders are using to raise capital, right?

I'm fine. TechCrunch+ has all this and more.

As part of our weekly Pitch Deck Teardown series, we analyzed dozens of pitch decks that startups use to successfully raise capital. Written by our in-house expert Haj Jan Kamps, a presentation coach and former founder and venture capitalist, this series offers an in-depth look at what makes a good presentation and the pitfalls to avoid.

Here's a roundup of our favorite tears from the past few weeks.

  • Angel. For early readers, we have a $200,000 Angel kit from SplitBrick. Given the number of startups looking to democratize real estate investing, SplitBrick faces a very crowded market. Maybe that's why Hajj isn't sold entirely on deck.
  • Series A: Monster Ether Series A is an example of how you don't have to follow guidelines to raise capital. However, there is a lot to learn from the deck. Including what polyfluoroalkyl substances are. To learn more about how to improve your Series A, go here.
  • Expansion phase. That's kind of the theme this year, isn't it? For founders looking to raise funds before the final private round, Phospholutions is the right group.
  • Bonus: CancerVAX crowdfunding round. Who doesn't want less cancer? This crowdfunding event raised $855,138, so there's a lot to learn here.

We have lineups from the Angels stage to the final stage, they're all here.

If you want more information on how to create a compelling presentation at the end of 2023, we have notes on why decks have fewer slides and how to improve your entire deck.

Good luck and happy hunting (DC).
