Tech N9nes BLISSful New Perspective

Tech N9ne, the legendary hip-hop artist from Kansas City, Missouri, has released his twenty-fourth full-length album, BLISS.

Tech N9ne is known for releasing an album every year, but he took a year-long break after ASIN9NE in 2021. There were many collaborations on this album, but the video for "Face Off," in which Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson spat out a verse, almost blew up the internet.

The album departs somewhat from Tech's previous work, with a more introspective and catchy tone.

“It's a new me,” says Tech. “I've evolved with a new brain, a new spirit, and a new heart. I want to start conversations so that we can find common ground, even though we are different. We can agree to disagree. I want to have a conversation and these are my observations. I open up and talk about things that belonged to me. For me, this record is a reflection of society.

The 76-minute album with 24 tracks mixes genres and topics from all walks of life. "Knock" features MCs from all over the US, including Conway the Machine, and then there's "WAS (We Are Hungry and Thirsty)." It's on the other end of the spectrum, with HU$H and Kim Dracula making the song sound almost nu metal with their distortions, clever electronics, and background noise.

“I'm talking about some [things] I've never talked about before,” says Tech. “These songs mean a lot to me. I'm not trying to do what's hot; I want timeless music.

One of the highlights is "Fatha Fig Ya (Food For Thought)" with RMR. On the court, Tech offers his take on life and parenthood. RMR's ​​distinctive voice adds an astonishing beauty to the song.

"I wanted to get my point across to young people," says Tech. "As I sit now, I am a father who, with a song, literally offers you a fig of life to eat."

The album is a collection of many sounds and themes new to Tech, but rest assured there are some familiar faces and themes. Patrick Mahomes gets congratulations, remains very proud of KCMO, and even finds The Popper on the catchy song "They Know Meh."

BLISS is an inspiring and empowering album, but also a rewarding one. Tech N9ne has once again proven that he is one of the most talented and versatile hip hop artists in the world.
